FINE ART PRINTS → Australian Bestiary 2019-2022
I started this series due to the huge forest fire in Sydney 2019. Millions of animals were dead in that disaster. There are burned hourses, dehydrated koalas, kangaroos that can’t find theri homes, and so on. While these animals are well-known, there are many more rare animals in the southern hemisphere that many people have never heard of, and the extent of their damage may be known only to the people in the industy.
But the process gradually changed my original intention from introducing more Australian animals to understanding them, and enjoying fantasizing about them surviving in a humane social form. I became obsessed with giving them bizarre backstories and personalities, and this creation became one of the most enjoyable experiences I've had in a long time.
